Clinical Trials as a Care Option
We offer clinical research to our patients by partnering with Circuit Clinical. Circuit Clinical is a company that provides clinical research access to practices like ours; in turn, we can provide clinical research opportunities to patients like you.
“We are pleased to bring clinical research into our own backyard to better serve our patients’ needs. The experience of getting your healthcare close to home and at your primary care doctor’s office is strengthened by being presented with the opportunity for research participation. Working with Circuit Clinical allows our physicians to provide this new access to care in a trusting environment – where our number one concern will always be our patients’ health.”
- Dr. Wade Brosius, Medical Director at PMSI
Why take part in a research study?
When existing drugs don’t fully address a healthcare issue or have undesirable effects, pharmaceutical companies develop new drugs that bring a new or different way of treating the disease or may be less uncomfortable to take than the existing available medicines.
Some common reasons people decide to participate in a study include:
- Taking a more active role in your health care
- Gaining access to the newest treatments available for a disease or condition
- Helping to advance research for others affected by the same condition
- Receiving study-related medical care from the clinical trial study team
– John, clinical trial participant
The goal of clinical trials is to determine if a new test or treatment works and is safe.
Clinical trials can also look at other aspects of care, such as improving the quality of life for people with chronic illnesses.
To bring new treatments to patients, clinical trials test:
- How well the drug addresses the disease and its symptoms
- How safe the drug is for people to take or use
- How comfortable it is for patients to take or use while also measuring how the drug works
